A while back, we talked to SharePoint branding expert Celina Baginski about common branding questions.
What is SharePoint branding?
Branding is design and development. SharePoint branding has become a niche, figuring out the nuances, branding so you don’t break your site. You could go to an ad agency and have them design mockups but you need training to put it together. Dev could build branding files but devs are used to tables. Implementing branding takes soft dev skills.
How is SharePoint branding different in SharePoint 2010?
SharePoint 2010 uses CSS. MOSS 2007 was easier for devs to deal with the brand files. SharePoint 2010 is more complicated because of CSS.
Who uses SharePoint branding to customize their sites?
Small organizations, fewer than 50 employees, might not invest in branding. But an organization larger than 50 employees might invest in branding. Branding affects adoption—an interesting and enticing layout will make users want to use it.
