PatchLink will acquire SecureWave by way of an all-stock merger, thereby taking another step towards unified protection and control. The acquisition comes on the heels of PatchLink's acquisition of the Harris STAT Guardian Vulnerability Management Suite in February of this year.

The Harris STAT acquisition helped PatchLink enhance its vulnerability management and policy-based compliance solution for endpoints. With the addition of SecureWave's Sanctuary product, PatchLink adds unified policy enforcement to centrally manage and monitor device and application use, which helps protect against data leaks, malware threats, and unauthorized connectivity.

"The technical and geographic synergies between the two companies made this alogical next step in moving towards unified protection and control that cutsacross multiple departments within an enterprise," said Bob Johnson, CEOof SecureWave.

Sanctuary helps control laptops, desktop systems, servers, terminal services servers and thin clients. SecureWave currently serves more than 1,700 companies worldwide.

Last month PatchLink joined Oracle's Unbreakable Linux Suport Program. The program rallies participation from third parties to provide support tools for Oracle's Unbreakable Linux platform. PatchLink said that by participating in the program, it will extend its solutions to include patch content from Oracle.
