Earlier today we told you about Amazon's release of a new Universal Windows Platform (UWP) app for PCs, tablets and mobile devices running Windows 10.

It is a basic web wrapper app that appears to only take advantage of Live Tiles right now and will hopefully move forward to implement other UWP features to make it a worthwhile app for Windows 10.

The reality is that the Amazon website works just fine using the mobile version of Microsoft's Edge so a web wrapper app is considered the most basic of apps that does not require extensive effort to produce. However, in a world of niche apps and low market share on the mobile side this might be the best we get from Amazon for Windows 10.

On the other hand, as I mentioned earlier, they now have a base to work with and might focus on adding more functionality down the road but as Rod said in his article about this app, don't hold your breath.

Here is a quick look into the new app including a couple of shots from the mobile version.

But, wait...there's probably more so be sure to follow me on Twitter and Google+.

My first website – AnotherWin95.com – came online in 1995. Back then I used GeoCities Web Hosting for it and WindowsObserver.com is the result of the work I have done on that site since 1995.

In January 2010 my community contributions were recognized by Microsoft when I received my first Most Valuable Professional (MVP) Award for the Windows Operating System. Since then I have been renewed as a Microsoft MVP each subsequent year since that initial award. I am also a member of the inaugural group of Windows Insider MVPs which began in 2016.

I previously hosted the Observed Tech PODCAST for 10 years and 317 episodes and now host a new podcast called Faith, Tech, and Space.

I began contributing to Penton Technology websites in January 2015 and in April 2017 I was hired as the Senior Content Producer for Penton Technology which is now Informa Tech. In that role, I contribute to ITPro Today and cover operating systems, enterprise technology, and productivity.
