The Windows 2000 DCPROMO wizard does NOT support locating the Ntds.dit database and/or log files on a mount point because a system state restore of a domain controller does NOT recover the mount point topology.
You can change the location of the Active Directory database files and/or log files after the promotion.
Microsoft has verified typical Active Directory operation when the database and/or log files are placed on mount points.
NOTE: You must test and document a recovery procedure before you deploy with mount point topology.
