The 2008 iPod lineup: touch, classic, nano, shuffle
Note that the iPod classic and shuffle have not received any form factor or functional changes this year.
2008 iPod nano
The 2008 iPod nano reverts to the tall and thin look of the 2006 model and now comes in 9 very bright colors. It is available in two capacities, an 8 GB version for $149 and a 16 GB version for $199. It also includes a built-in accelerometer which automatically switches to Cover Flow view when the device is rotated; it automatically goes into Shuffle mode when lightly shaken. I'll be reviewing this product soon.
2008 iPod touch
The 2008 iPod touch adds an iPhone-like integrated speaker and volume controls, two features that were sorely lacking on the first generation device of last year. Otherwise, the device is largely unchanged from last year. The prices are lower, however: The 8 GB version costs $229, the 16 GB version costs $299, and the 32 GB version costs $399. I'll be reviewing this product soon.
