Why can't I install Windows 2000 from certain USB CD-ROM drives?

A. Some new legacy-free machines don't ship with standard CD-ROM drives. As a result, you must use a USB CD-ROM drive on these systems. However, Win2K doesn't support some USB CD-ROM drives. If you have an unsupported drive, you can receive a "Stop 0x0000007B" error. The only course of action available at present is to contact the computer manufacturer and ask for a Windows 2000 Restoration CD that works with the USB CD-ROM drive.
