Penton Media, owner of Internet World Magazine, Internet World Trade Show, and Windows 2000 Magazine, announced the launch of Security Matters, a conference and exhibition Penton will hold at the upcoming Internet World Spring 2002 conference in the Los Angeles Convention Center. The conference will take place April 22 through 26 and will feature a 3-day conference program along with an exhibitor showcase on the main show floor.
"We live in an increasingly complex world, in which IT executives face an ever-growing series of challenges keeping their networks secure from intruders and viruses," said Courtney Muller, vice president of domestic Internet World events. "We are creating Security Matters as a forum where these executives can come face-to-face with the leading experts in the security industry to learn how to protect their networks with successful strategies, products, and services."
The conference will provide a full range of security resources organized into four tracks: network security, handling security, integrating your security program, and comprehensive security. In addition, the conference will devote an entire day to public key infrastructure (PKI) fundamentals and challenges. Ali Pabrai, an accomplished expert in security technologies such as PKI, VPNs, biometrics, and enterprise network security, will cover topics that include business drivers; fundamentals; PKI team, budget, and timeline; smart cards; biometrics; and a PKI pilot program.
"The role that security plays in IT can't be overstated," said Tom Halligan, editorial director and conference chairman for Internet World. "Penton's security properties will delve deeply into the impact that security holds over IT. Our events and news resources will deliver critical information about how to protect Web sites and mission-critical data, and provide detailed analysis of current and future security solutions."
