JSI Tip 9773. When you install or remove the Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit for Windows XP you receive WMI errors?

When you attempt to install or remove the Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit for Windows XP, you receive Windows Management Instrumentation errors.

This behavior will occur if WMI is missing or corrupt.

To resolve this problem:

1. Let the install or removal finish.

2. Open a CMD.EXE window.

3. Type WMIRepository and press Enter.

4. Type control schedtasks and press Enter.

5. Select the three tasks that were created by the Windows Disk Protection tool, normally named At1, At2, and At3, and delete them.

NOTE: If the above does NOT resolve the issue, perform an in-place upgrade (reinstallation) of Windows XP.
