When you switch your Windows XP SP2 to and from battery power, you receive a BSOD similar to:

NOTE: This problem may occur during other activities.
If you force installed the Gv3.sys Intel Pentium M (Centrino) mobile processor driver, which works on Windows XP and Windows XP SP1, you will experience this problem.
NOTE: An OEM driver installation program may have forced the install.
The Gv3.sys processor driver is obsolete for Windows XP SP2, and has been replaced by Intelppm.sys.
To determine which processor driver is installed:
1. Start / run / devmgmt.msc / OK.
2. Expand Processors.
3. Right-click Intel Pentium M processor and press Properties.
4. Select the Driver tab.
5. Press Driver Details.
If you are using the Gv3.sys driver:
1. Start / run / devmgmt.msc / OK.
2. Expand Processors.
3. Right-click Intel Pentium M processor and press Update Driver.
4. If the Driver Update Wizard prompts you to connect to Windows Update, press No, not at this time.
5. Press Next.
6. Select Install the software automatically (Recommended) and press Next.
7. Press Finish.
8. Shutdown and restart your computer.
