JSI Tip 6860. Use a web page to take a hardware inventory of your client's PC.

You can inventory the hardware on your client's PC by having them visit the hwinv.hta page on your Web.

When they visit the page, Internet Explorer presents them with an Open or Save dialog. When they press Open, a new page opens, the hour glass is activated, and after a few seconds they receive:

Please be patient while a hardware inventory is taken of your machine.

After a few seconds, they can close the page.

The hardware inventory is recorded in %SystemRoot%\System32\HardWinv.log.
