JSI Tip 6715. Windows Media Player does not transcode media files to a lower bit rate when they are protected by Digital Rights Management (DRM)?

If you manually configure Windows Media Player to transcode files to a lower bit rate, the setting will be ignored if the media is protected by DRM.

For non-protected media, you can configure Windows Media Player to transcode files to a lower bit rate:

1. Press Options on the Tools menu.

2. Select the Devices tab.

3. Select your portable device.

4. Press Properties.

5. Change the speed setting.

6. Press OK and OK.
