JSI Tip 6015. 'This Service Pack contains files that are missing some of the fixes which were previously installed on this computer. To prevent possible problems, these files will not be installed by the Service Pack'?

In tip 5577, I documented how the Installation of Windows 2000 Preliminary Hotfixes Causes a Conflict with Service Pack 3 (SP3) for Windows 2000.

To prevent the subject message from appearing when you install SP3 for Windows 2000:

1. Obtain and install the updated versions of these hotfixes prior to or after the installation of SP3.

2. Expand the W3ksp3.exe network installation file by running w2ksp3.exe -x.

3. Delete the Updtblk.inf file from the expanded service packs I386\Update folder.

4. Run the Service Pack update by running Update.exe from the expanded service packs I386\Update folder.
