JSI Tip 5670. Windows XP fails to run some programs on hyper-threaded or dual-processor or single processor computers with CPU speed greater than 2 GHz?

Some programs, mostly games, run incorrectly on the subject platforms.

This problems occurs if the program uses the QueryPerformanceCounter and QueryPerformanceFrequency functions to generate time code, as the output of these functions may be incorrectly interpreted.

See the Intel http://www.intel.com/technology/hyperthread/index.htm?iid=sr+hyper& site for more information about hyper-threading technology.
