JSI Tip 5638. When you use Cmdlines.txt during an unattended install to issue a NET USE command, you receive 'The Workstation Service has not been started'?

When you run NET USE from Cmdlines.txt, you receive:

The Workstation Service has not been started.

More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2138.

If you press SHIFT+F10 during the graphical phase of setup, you can run Ipconfig /all to verify your IP address and you can ping the computer that is the target of the NET USE, but issuing the NET USE generates the above error message.

To fix this problem, edit the Hivesys.inf file on your Windows XP distribution share, and add the following missing statement after the HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\NetworkProvider\HwOrder",,0x00000012 line:

HKLM,"SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\NetworkProvider\Order",,0x00000012
