JSI Tip 5622. 'Self registration of cdo.dll failed' while installing the OWA component of Exchange 5.5 on a Windows 2000 Terminal Server?

When you try to install the OWA (Outlook Web Access) component of Exchange 5.5 on a Windows 2000 Terminal Server, you receive:

Self registration of cdo.dll failed.

To fix this problem, uninstall Terminal Services, install OWA, and reinstall Terminal Services:

1. Control Panel / Add/Remove programs / Add/Remove Windows Components.

2. When the Windows Components Wizard starts, clear the Terminal Services check box and press Next.

3. When prompted, shutdown and restart your computer.

4. Install OWA.

5. Apply the latest Exchange 5.5 Service Pack.

6. Reinstall Terminal Services.
