JSI Tip 2623. You loose your keyboard or mouse after installing Logitech 9.0 Mouseware drivers on Windows 2000?

If this happens to you, using Last Known Good (LKG) or booting to Safe Mode does not fix the problem.

You must edit the registry to fix this condition, but with your current problem, this is difficult or impossible.

If you are connected to a network:

NOTE: if you are not a domain member, you may need to type the following to get connectivity:
      net use \\remote_computer_name\IPC$ /user:administrator *

01. Use another computer running Windows NT or Windows 2000 to run Regedt32.

02. Press Registry / Select Computer and type the name of the 'broken' computer.

03. Select the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE on Remote_Computer_Name Window.

04. Navigate to SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\\{4D36E96B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318\}

05. Double-click the UpperFilters value name and click in the Multi-String Editor to de-select the entries.

06. Remove the Lkbdflt2 line.

07. Navigate to SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\\{4D36E96F-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318\}

08. Double-click the UpperFilters value name and click in the Multi-String Editor to de-select the entries.

09. Remove the Lmouflt2 line.

10. Press Registry / Close.

11. Press Registry / Exit.

12. Restart the broken computer.

If you are NOT connected to a network (or the network only contains W9x computers):

01. Boot to the Recovery Console using the CD-ROM or Setup disks.

02. Change (CD) to %SystemRoot%\System32\Config and rename the System file to System.jsi.

03. Change to the %SystemRoot%\Repair folder and copy the System file to %SystemRoot%\System32\Config.

04. Exit the Recovery Console to restart the computer with the initial System file.

05. Use Regedt32 to press Registry / Load Hive.

06. Browse to %SystemRoot%\System32\Config and double-click System.jsi. Type JSI into Key Name when prompted.

07. Navigate to JSI\Select and remember the control set number (ControlSetnnn) in the Default value name.

08. Navigate to JSI\ControlSetnnn\Control\Class\\{4D36E96B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318\}

09. Double-click the UpperFilters value name and click in the Multi-String Editor to de-select the entries.

10. Remove the Lkbdflt2 line.

11. Navigate to JSI\ControlSetnnn\Control\Class\\{4D36E96F-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318\}

12. Double-click the UpperFilters value name and click in the Multi-String Editor to de-select the entries.

13. Remove the Lmouflt2 line.

14. Collapse the JSI key by double-clicking it.

15. Press Registry / Unload Hive.

16. Press Registry / Exit.

17. Restart the computer into the Recovery Console using the CD-ROM or setup disks.

18. Change to the %SystemRoot%\System32\Config folder and rename the System file to System.old.

19. Rename System.jsi to System.

20. Exit the Recovery Console and restart your computer.
