JSI Tip 10177. Disabled programs Are displayed in the Software Installation section of group policy?

When you open a GPO and examine its Software Installation values, some entries that are displayed in the result pane are displayed with a red icon, indicating that they are disabled.

This behavior will occur if the Software Installation Group Policy snap-in extensions encounter a problem before the administrator completes his management activity (assign, publish, configure, or upgrade) to a package, because an entry is made in Active Directory, even though it has no effect upon the software management.

To resolve this issue:

1. Delete the disabled program.

2 Repeat the assign, publish, configure, or upgrade to the package.
