Amazon to Take on Apple's iPod and iTunes

Yeah, Amazon is crazy, but the company has always done things a little differently. The latest example: Amazon is reportedly in talks with four of the world's largest record companies about an in-house online music service that will compete with Apple Computer's iTunes, as well as a portable MP3 player that will compete with Apple's iPod. Unless you've been living under a rock lately, you know that Apple dominates both of these markets, and is, in fact, finally coming under antitrust scrutiny for tying its iPod and iTunes together. So ... why would Amazon attempt to succeed where so many others have failed? Well, like I said, this is one crazy company
