Market research firm DataQuest is saying that shipments of Windows 98 will account for over half of all OS shipments in 1998, or almost 57 million units when the dust settles. Upgrades bought on store shelves are expected to come in at an additional 5.5 million units. The company points out that most of the interest for Windows 98 comes from consumers, not companies.
