If you go to Windows Settings>Personalization>Start you will find other options for customizing the appearance of the Start Menu:
- Show another column of tiles to give yourself even more tile layout options.
- Turn off the occasional app suggestions in the Start Menu. I have found the occasional new app to try out with this option turned on.
- Show the apps you use most is handy for re-accessing those apps very quickly.
- The recently added apps option is nice as well because you know exactly where a shortcut is for that recently installed app and can go right there to pin it to Start or the Taskbar.
- Some users like to use the full screen Start Menu at all times and that can be turned on from here.
- Some Start Menu items have Jump Lists that gives you quick access to recently opened files so this option is very handy as well.
The last link on this settings page, Choose which folders appear on Start, lets you add extra shortcuts to system folders right on the Start Menu including:
- File Explorer
- Settings
- Documents
- Downloads
- Music
- Pictures
- Videos
- HomeGroup
- Network
- Personal folder
