Yesterday's Registry hacks bring up an interesting point I should have addressed: any time you change your Registry, you take the chance of a system meltdown. On the other hand, the changes I suggested don't actually edit your Registry, they just create links to objects that appear in the Registry. I suspect the worst thing that could happen is a system crash, but to be on the safe side, you should be warned against this sort of activity. That said, WinInfo subscriber Tim Spofford correctly suggested the Microsoft PowerToy "TweakUI" as a simpler way to get most of the effects mentioned yesterday. If you haven't downloaded TweakUI, then shame on you: it's the first thing I install every time I have to reinstall Windows 95 and NT 4.0. Not that I have to do that too often...
