Quick Tip: How to use Windows Defender Offline in Windows 10 Anniversary Update

A new feature in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update allows users to easily execute a scan of their system with Windows Defender at boot up.

This method of scanning, prior to Windows starting, can be very useful to deal with some forms of malware and viruses that are difficult to remove when Windows is already loaded up.

The process of running Windows Defender Offline is very simple to start just make sure you are not in the middle of any other activities on your device because once you initiate this offline scan it will begin almost immediately.

This gallery will show you how to get it started and what the scanning screens look like.

Note: These images were taken of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update in a Virtual Machine so I could grab screenshots of the offline scanning interface/process. That is why there is extra chrome/VM interface around the screen images.
