Microsoft will add instant to messaging to Exchange

Microsoft Corporation purchased Flash Communications on Monday so that it could use Flash instant messaging technology in the next version of Exchange Server. Microsoft will also integrate Flash technology into its Chat and NetMeeting software.

"By incorporating the Flash Communications technology into the real-time offerings found in Microsoft Exchange Server, Microsoft is able to offer corporate customers a complete real-time communication environment, allowing them to determine the online status of co-workers, customers, and other fellow collaborators; send immediate notification of important events; conduct online meetings; and host Internet chat sessions," Microsoft said in a statement.
