Microsoft quietly releases Windows 10 Start Menu for Windows RT

In what might be the final feature related update for its Windows RT devices Microsoft has published Windows RT 8.1 Update 3 today for its first and second generation RT hardware.

The update, which brings the Windows 10 style Start Menu to Surface (RT) and Surface 2, is being delivered through Windows Update.

This update is the last gasp for an operating system that never really took off because of its sand boxed nature which meant it could not run x86 programs.

Just check Windows Update on your devices to grab the update. It may take a while for it to show up since it is a staged roll out.

I have reached out to Microsoft for comment about this update and will append that info to this article one I hear back from them.
