Just a couple of days ago Microsoft released Windows 10 Build 10240 to Insiders as the first step towards the operating systems General Availability on 29 July 2015.
While many believed that build was Release To Manufacturing or RTM it was described by Gabe Aul as only the beginning and that Windows as a Service means continually updating Windows 10.
Well that first opportunity to participate in Windows as a Service has arrived for Windows Insiders on build 10240.
A tweet from the Ring Master himself Gabe Aul announced the first update on the journey called Windows as a Service:
We're releasing an update package on WU for PC build 10240 today. It will install automatically or you can check for updates to grab it.— Gabriel Aul (@GabeAul) July 17, 2015
I have been pinging Windows Update on all my machines, as I am sure all of you are, but no sign of the package yet.
Gabe did confirm that this is a cumulative update so that security update that was waiting for all of us on build 10240 Wednesday is in there and that means the package is labeled as a security update.
However, he did confirm later on Twitter that this update addresses issues that have already been discovered or reported in Windows 10 Build 10240.
Like I said yesterday - welcome to Windows as a Service.
