Windows Server 2008 RC1 available to the public

Microsoft today announced the public availability of Windows Server 2008 RC1. This is the second release candidate for Windows Server 2008 and is available for download at http://www.microsoft.com/ws08eval. Microsoft has had over 1.8 million customers obtain Windows Server 2008 evaluation code so far, and the server is set to release to manufacture by the February 27th launch event.

In addition, Microsoft also committed more than US $150 million worldwide for outreach and demand generation to IT Pros and developers, and disclosed additional details and partner programs for the highly-anticipated Windows Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 and Visual Studio 2008 Heroes Happen Here Launch events.
