Microsoft demonstrated next-generation Windows CE devices last week that feature new form factors and cool code-names such as "Godzilla" and "Gamera." NEC is the proud owner of these two devices, actually, with Godzilla being a color unit while Gamera is monochrome. Both feature a clamshell design, Windows CE 2.0, and a 66MHz MIPS Vr4000 CPU that will be upgraded to 100MHz sometime next year. Keyboards on the units will be close to full size, with 5- to 6-inch screens.
Other manufacturers announcing Windows CE 2.0 products include Hewlett Packard, Hitachi, Casio, Canon, Fujitsu, and Sharp. Some units will be similar to existing CE 1.0 devices, while others will follow the new NEC devices into new design territory
