Why are some dial-in options missing for users who use the Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in?

A. With the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Active Directory Users and Computers snap-in, the following dial-in options might not be available:

  • Control access through Remote Access Policy
  • Verify Caller ID
  • Assign a Static IP Address
  • Apply Static Routes
  • Static Routes

These Windows 2000 options aren't available because the domain is in mixed mode. Windows NT 4.0 domain controllers (DCs) don't support the Win2K options, so the options aren't available. To enable the options, you must switch to native mode (although this switch is a one-way operation, so be certain before you perform this action).
