Post an idea
Because we're serious about making sure "Windows 8.1 Book" is exactly what readers want, we've implemented a UserVoice-based "Post an idea" widget on the Windows 8.1 Book website. In the lower-right corner of the site, you'll see a little red "light bulb" icon. Click it to leave us some feedback about the topics you'd like to see covered by the book.
Basic Navigation 0.1 and a request for more advanced task ideas
Here's an early and incomplete first look at the Basic Navigation chapter, which will focus on the basic skills you need to get around in the Windows 8.1 user experience. It focuses on the Start screen, desktop, Charms, and the like.
We've received a number of requests for a table of contents, which of course makes it much easier to find exactly what you're looking for. Originally, the thought was that we would add such a thing later in the process, because it will need to be regenerated every time the book is updated (twice, as you'll see). But what the heck. Here's a version of the book with a table of contents.
The book is now up to 231 pages in PDF form, and I should be finishing the first draft of the Basic Navigation chapter today or tomorrow. More soon!
