Microsoft will release the Beta 3 version of SQL Server 7.0--code-named "Sphinx"--to 30,000 developers before the end of June. SQL Server 7.0 includes a host of new features, including Data Transformation Services, which allows database users to transfer entire databases from one type of database to another. For example, you could use this tool to convert an Access database into an Oracle 8 database. Microsoft is hoping you will use it to upgrade databases to SQL Server, naturally.
SQL Server 7.0 has also undergone dramatic performance improvements, and includes numerous ease-of-use improvements, such as Wizards and a new MMC-based interface. The new release will run in Windows 95/8, or Windows NT
