Some NT 5.0 upgrade considerations

Thanks to Petr Jaeger for forwarding some interesting information for any system admins waiting to upgrade their networks to Windows NT 5.0. It seems that machine names on an NT 5.0 network will need to follow Internet DNS (Domain Name Service) naming conventions, not the NetBIOS naming conventions allowed today with NT 4.0. DNS allows the letters A-Z, numbers 0-9, and the dash ( - ). As an early warning to administrators, I think its worth mentioning that you might want to make sure that the machine names on your NT networks conform to this convention now. This will make for an easier upgrade when the time to switch to NT 5.0 does come around
