Sign up for CompuServe and get a free PC

CompuServe parent America Online (AOL) has signed a deal with low-cost computer maker eMachines that will enable new customers to effectively receive a free PC when they sign up for three years of CompuServe's online services at $21 a month for unlimited usage. Under terms of the deal, customers will get a $400 rebate on a $400 eMachines PC when they sign a three year contract with CompuServe.

"Consumers are increasingly purchasing PCs for the sole purpose of getting online, and when they do they want easy access to the leading online brands like AOL and CompuServe," said AOL's Jan Brandt. "Participating with eMachines in this rebate program will give computer buyers even more incentive to sign up for the new CompuServe 2000."
