Thanks to John Nuechterlein for the tip: Microsoft has issued the second of what will no doubt eventually be a long list of post-Service Pack 4 hot fixes. This one fixes a problem with the tcpip.sys driver not properly initializing on multiprocessor computers, causing a blue screen of death and a system halt.
