Q: Can I copy my customized Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 Server Manager configuration to other users and computers?

A: The new Windows Server 2012 Server Manager, which is also available for Windows 8 as part of the Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT), lets you add many servers to the console and create custom groups of servers to enable easier monitoring and management.

The customizations are stored in an XML file, %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\ServerManager\ServerList.xml.

As an example, my file is titled C:\Users\administrator.SAVILLTECH\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\ServerManager\ServerList.xml.

This file can be copied and used for other users and on other servers to keep the same list of servers and groupings of servers.

As you can see in my example of my Server Manager view below, I have six servers and one custom server group, Hyper-V Servers.

In the XML below, which is my complete ServerList.xml file, I can see these servers listed and the servers in my custom group.
