Q: Can I boot a Windows 8 machine from a volume on a Storage Space?

A: No, Storage Spaces can't be used as boot volumes. If you need fault tolerance for boot volumes, either use hardware RAID or use dynamic disks and use the traditional software RAID available in Windows Server.
