PalmPilot kicking Windows CE butt in handheld market

Windows CE may have garnered a lot of attention in past years but the resounding market champion is clearly the U.S. Robotics PalmPilot, with over 50% marketshare. 3Com, the parent company of U.S. Robotics, reports that over 3,000 independent software developers are currently writing programs for the PalmPilot. Of Windows CE machines, the HP 320LX and Philips Velo 1 have reportedly had stronger than expected sales, especially to corporate clients. With a color version of Windows CE due later this year, 3Com has some major plans for the PalmPilot designed to dim CE's prospects for another year. Stay tuned
