Objects created in Active Directory for 2016 clusters

Q. In Windows Server 2016 Failover Cluster are objects still created in Active Directory?

A. Windows Server 2016 introduces the ability for nodes in a cluster to be part of different domains and even part of workgroups. In these mixed-domain/workgroup scenarios objects are not created in AD for the cluster name object (CNO) of service objects and instead DNS entries are used in the same manner as AD-detached clusters in Windows Server 2012 R2. When all nodes are in the same AD domain then objects are created in AD in a similar manner to non-AD-detached clusters.
