Netscape released the third beta version of Communicator 4.0 this week. This latest version sports a slightly cleaner user interface, support for Dynamic Fonts (which is slower than I had hoped, but it works), CSS style sheets (still untested, but inoperable in previous builds), and, most importantly, support for the new "extended-trust" Java applets. Due to the release of Internet Explorer 4.0, I haven't yet updated the files on the Nexus, but you can download the new Communicator from the Netscape Web site now. It is a clean looking, elegant program and certainly has a lot to offer. If you spend a lot of time with your browser, you owe it to yourself to evaluate both Communicator 4.0 and Internet Explorer 4.0.
That's easier said than done, of course. I can't stop fooling around with IE 4.0 at the moment. Expect a full review of Communicator 4.0 PR3 on the Nexus Reviews page later this month
