Netscape to announce Navigator unbundling on Monday

Capitulating to the demands of IBM, Lotus, and other high-profile customers, Netscape Communications will announce on Monday their intention to unbundle Navigator from the Communicator suite. The new standalone Navigator is expected to include only the browser component and the Netcaster push component. If users wish to access email, newsgroups, or other features, they will need to purchase the entire Communicator suite. Netscape is expected to announce a renewal in their agreement with Lotus to bundle Navigator with Notes on the same day. Lotus president Jim Papows said earlier this week that they would bundle Navigator only if Netscape removed it from Communicator
