MS: Windows 2000 Beta 3 will ship by April 21st

According to a report in Business Week, Microsoft's Brian Valentine has set deadline of April 21 for shipping the long-awaited Beta 3 release of Windows 2000. The product, which now rings in at over 30 million lines of code, is the most-ambitious piece of software ever created, and 250,000 testers will finally get their dirty little hands on it by late April.

Yesterday, February 15th, was the "lock-down day" for new features. From here on out, it's all bug testing, code refining, and performance testing.

"The only way you ever stop is you stop changing the code," Valentine says. That time has come
