Microsoft witness agrees with DOJ

Where do they find these guys? Microsoft witness and economist Richard Schmalensee displayed a little bit of painful ignorance when he was unable to pinpoint the point in time that Microsoft decided to integrate Internet Explorer in Windows. For example, the original "gold" version of Windows 95 shipped without a browser.

The biggest problem for Schmalensee, however, is that his testimony has essentially backed the DOJ's claims that Microsoft's bundling of Internet Explorer with Windows was done solely to steal business from Netscape. DOJ attorney David Boies says that he expect to finish Schmalensee's cross examination on Wednesday
