Microsoft will release the latest version of its consumer-oriented security software service to the Web today, the company revealed. Windows Live OneCare 2, the second major version of this suite, is a subscription service that provides PC security and health functionality for as many as three PCs.
"Customers have told us they want an all-in-one solution for PC care that is simple and easy to use across all the PCs in their home," says Microsoft senior director of Windows Live OneCare Amy Barzdukas. "Windows Live OneCare helps address this need by providing a comprehensive set of security and performance tools while adding new features, including multi-PC management, printer-sharing support and centralized backup options."
OneCare 2 expands on the previous version's PC security and health capabilities by providing a way to centrally manage the care of PCs in your home network, with centralized PC backup and reporting capabilities, printer sharing, and online photo backup. The product is available for a list price of $49.95 in the United States, though the actual retail cost is generally much less than that. OneCare 2 is available in 17 countries and 7 languages.
