Microsoft fixes "Ping of Death 2"

Thanks once again to WinInfo subscriber Noam Rathaus for the tip: Microsoft has posted a SP3 hot-fix for the infamous "Ping of Death 2." This problem occurs when a malicious user sends corrupt Internet Control Message Protocol (ICMP) datagram fragments to a Windows NT or Windows 95 computer, causing it to stop responding (hang).

Microsoft has updated the TCP/IP protocol stack to correct this problem. You can download the hot-fix from the Microsoft FTP
