Microsoft demonstrates new NT 5.0 features

At this week's Computer Telephony Expo '98 in Los Angeles, Microsoft is demonstrating several new features of its upcoming Windows NT 5.0 operating system that make it easier to communicate visually over networks. New TAPI features in NT 5.0 will enable multimedia voice and video communications to coexist with data transmissions over networks and the Internet. TAPI is essentially the "glue" that lets applications communicate over these networks; existing versions of Windows 95/8 and NT use an early version. The version of TAPI included with NT 5.0 supports streaming media, similar to that used by Real Networks' Real Audio and Real Video products
