Microsoft brings MSN to pagers and cell phones

Microsoft Corporation announced on Monday the immediate availability of MSN Mobile, the latest service to fall under its Microsoft Network (MSN) umbrella. MSN Mobile allows customers to receive wireless information on their pager and cellular phones, including news, sports, weather, stock quotes, and more. Microsoft has also purchased OmniBrowse, Inc., a wireless data service company whose technology is being incorporated into MSN Mobile.

"MSN Mobile will have a profound impact on how consumers and business use the Web," said Yusuf Mehdi, director of marketing for the Consumer and Commerce Group at Microsoft. "We believe MSN Mobile will do for the Internet what the cellular phone did for the telephone."

As with the normal MSN site, MSN Mobile is highly customizable with detailed weather reports for over 500 U.S. cities and other personalized offerings.
