Microsoft to bridge the gap between ActiveX and JavaBeans

Microsoft is working with a third-party company to bridge the gap between ActiveX (and it's COM object model) and JavaBeans, the new component object model for Java. CEO Bill Gates will make the announcement during a keynote address at the Software Development '97 conference in San Francisco, which will occur at the same time as the JavaOne shown in early April. Microsoft will also announce support for the NeXT (excuse me, Apple) WebObjects technology.

Additionally, Microsoft will announce a "fix" for the Java Development Kit 1.1 so that it works with Internet Explorer. The current version violates an agreement between Sun and Microsoft and applets written with that SDK will not run on IE 3
