Microsoft Corporation and Allaire Corporation announced this week that they will be working together to integrate Allaire's ColdFusion Web application server into Microsoft's Windows DNA (Distributed InterNet Architecture) technologies. This will allow customers to use ColdFusion to build eCommerce Web sites that are compatible with Windows DNA, a specification for distributed application development on Windows 2000. Of course, Microsoft also provides its own Web application server--IIS and Active Server Pages (ASP), which is included with Windows for free, along with a host of other Windows DNA components, such as COM+ and SQL Server 7.0, and Microsoft Transaction Server.
"Allaire ColdFusion takes advantage of the distributed component architecture, powerful data-tier services and leading browser technologies of Windows DNA," said Jigish Avalani, group manager of Windows DNA Marketing for Microsoft. "The excellent development and deployment platform in ColdFusion enables Web developers to extend the Windows DNA architecture, to rapidly build and deliver highly scalable and reliable Web applications.
