Larry Ellison talks up the future

Oracle CEO and Apple Computer board member Larry Ellison is rarely, if ever, at a loss for words. And this week, the mercurial star of database servers took the time to speak with the press and discuss the future, as he sees it, of computing.

"I've seen some of the new products coming downstream and you want them like a teenage boy wants a cool-looking fast car," said Ellison. "You'll see more affordable machines for students, you'll see \[Apple Computer\] continue to work on price, work on portability, work on great new display technology."

Ellison says that Microsoft's future desktop operating system is Windows CE, not Windows NT (Windows 200x) because NT is too "complicated, bulky, and dare I say, ridiculous.
