Burst mode allows a WINS server to respond affirmatively to a client before the registration request is processed and the database is updated. This allows WINS to process a large number of registration requests from multiple clients, simultaneously.
The new entries are type REG_DWORD values, located at:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Wins\Parameters
BurstHandling defaults to 1 (enabled). A value of 0 disables burst mode handling.
BurstQueSize defaults to 500 and has a range of 50 - 5000 registration entries. When this number is exceeded, the server enters burst mode, unless BurstHandling is 0.
