Internet Explorer 4.0 security bug revealed

Thanks to Scott Schnoll for the tip: Microsoft Corporation has acknowledged a security bug in Internet Explorer 4.0 that potentially allows a Web site designer to download files from your hard drive. The bug was uncovered by a Spanish Web developer named Juan Carlos García Cuartango, who points out that a simple JavaScript is all that's needed to get at the files on your hard drive.

Microsoft is promising a fix but hasn't yet given a timetable
